(Training through Practical Role Playing)
February 6th, 2020: 9:00am – 3:30pm
Arizona Broadway Theater 7701 W Paradise Ln, Peoria, AZ 85382
This in-depth intensive workshop will help learners use effective strategies for helping people with dementia during interactions, care delivery, and daily engagement. The goal is to help reduce resistance to care and foster participation and use of preserved skills. To do this, the workshop will guide learners to help them develop better observational skills to recognize and intervene effectively when behavioral challenges occur. We will work on hands-on ways of communicating and assisting with daily life and in times of distress. By the completion of the session, learners will have new tools that will be applied throughout the rest of the workshop.

She teaches about the value of connection when primary verbal communication and interaction abilities are altered. Her teaching style is extraordinarily unique in that she is able to accurately demonstrate and model for her students and audience the struggle and challenges dementia creates for all parties involved. She is an enlightening, witty, entertaining, and energetic speaker, who is much sought after to present to agencies and organizations across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and more.
