Positive Approach® to Care – Seeing it from the Other Side and Taking Care of You

An interactive session to help caregivers become care partners and better support the person living with dementia. Included will be a discussion about dementia, assessing our caregiver skills and strengths, understanding our senses and how they impact our caregiving and putting it all together to become an empowered care partner.

Kathy has held leadership roles in the assisted living industry as both an executive director and resident relations director. She served as the Program Director for the Alzheimer’s Association Georgia Chapter for over 8 years. As Program Director she was responsible for dementia training for professionals and family caregivers as well as all Alzheimer’s and dementia programming in a seventeen county region. Kathy has over 30 years experience in the area of gerontology. She currently provides consulting services and trainings in the area of dementia. Kathy is a Positive Approach™ to Care certified trainer.

Kathy is the 2013 Columbia County Chamber Business Woman of the Year. Her volunteer leadership roles include Assistant Governor Rotary District 6920 2012-2015, District 6920 Chair Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust as well as Executive Board 2015-17 Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust. She is Past President of the Augusta West Rotary Club. Prior to her position with the Alzheimer’s Association she served the organization in a variety of volunteer roles including Board Chair, Program and Planning Committee member as well as on their Speakers Bureau.
